"I must say as to what I have seen of Texas, it is
the garden spot of the world, the best land and the
best prospects for health I ever saw, and I do believe
it is a fortune to any man to come here."

- Davy Crocket

Without a doubt, the most popular community for my clients has been The Woodlands. So much about The Woodlands is carefully planned to be unique and special, I will not be able to fully explain its benefits on this site. But information abounds concerning this community. I will provide you with links and statistics all gathered in this one place to help you learn about the enchanting features of The Woodlands. However, you will need to let me show you the community in person to really get a feel about just how extraordinary the lifestyle is in this neighborhood inside the woods.

 History of The Woodlands:

George Mitchell is the founding father and visionary of The Woodlands. In 1964, he bought the Tamina Sawmill in south Montgomery County from Grogan and Cochran who owned the mill. There were 25,000 acres in the original tract of land.

Mitchell was already a successful businessman in the oil and gas industry. He used his business management expertise and vision to create a place that was perfectly suited to nurture young families while maintaining the natural surroundings of the forest. He studied new towns and planned communities in the U.S.A., Europe and South America and began to plan The Woodlands in 1966. Now, close to half of the residents in Montgomery County have chosen The Woodlands as their hometown.

Naturally, most would assume that The Woodlands was named after the forest surroundings. When, in fact, the area was named after George Mitchells wife whose maiden name is Wood. The areas outdoor entertainment venue, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, is more directly named after the love of his life.

 Overview of the community:

 House in The Woodlands, Texas

The Woodlands is developed in a Village concept meant to give residents the sense of being part of a small town. Your village offers community parks, shopping, health providers, restaurants and a wide variety of price ranges. As each village is developed, amenities are always found close to home. There is little of the segregation found in many areas where one part is affluent and another is economically challenged because they are blended into one community intentionally. The homes range from right around $100K to multiple millions.

Family recreation is a priority in this neighborhood. With more than 150 miles of hike and bike trails, all the villages are connected. Yet when you drive down the major roads, you see trees rather than the front or back yards of the residents. With the newest village being near Spring Creek (Harris County), the recreational features are being expanded. A third YMCA is being built. The creek is being developed to be a navigable stream. And large portions of this village feature ponds and waterfront homes. The Woodlands Waterway
